Moving your domain from Dotster to Squarespace allows you to manage all domain settings and billing in one place. Before starting, ensure you meet all transfer requirements and understand the pricing implications.

Step 1: Prepare Your Dotster Domain

• Log in to your Dotster account
• Navigate to [My Domains] and select [Manage]
• Verify administrative contact information is correct
• Unlock the domain through the [Domain Lock] toggle
• Disable domain privacy
• Request authorization code via [Email Auth Code]

Step 2: Initiate Transfer on Squarespace

• Open Domains panel in Squarespace
• Click [Use my domain]
• Enter your domain name
• Select [Transfer Domain]
• Input the authorization code from Dotster

Step 3: Complete Transfer Setup

• Review and update registration details
• Verify payment information
• Confirm order details and additional year registration fee
• Click [Confirm and Purchase]

Step 4: Monitor Transfer Progress

• Check transfer status in Domains panel
• Look for "Transferring" message
• Use [Update Status] for current progress
• Address any error messages promptly

Common Error Resolution:

• "Domain is locked": Unlock domain in Dotster
• "Authorization code required": Verify and re-enter code

Step 5: Post-Transfer Actions

• Wait for completion email from [email protected]
• Review DNS settings if needed
• Set up as primary domain
• Enable SSL
• Add custom email addresses if desired

Important Notes:

• Transfer typically takes up to 15 days
• Avoid changing DNS settings during transfer
• Keep existing MX records if using custom email
• Domain must be unlocked for at least 60 days before transfer
