DNS records and their values connect third-party domains to your Squarespace site. Here are the essential records you need to add in your domain provider's DNS settings.

Required CNAME Records:

  1. Verification CNAME (First CNAME)
  • Host/Alias: [Your unique verification code from DNS Settings panel]
  • Type: CNAME
  • Points to: verify.squarespace.com
  1. Second CNAME
  • Host/Alias: www
  • Type: CNAME
  • Points to: ext-cust.squarespace.com

Required A Records: Add these four A records to connect your root domain (without www):

  • Host/Alias: @

  • Type: A

  • Points to: 198.185.159.144

  • Host/Alias: @

  • Type: A

  • Points to: 198.185.159.145

  • Host/Alias: @

  • Type: A

  • Points to: 198.49.23.144

  • Host/Alias: @

  • Type: A

  • Points to: 198.49.23.145

Note: If your provider only allows one A record, use the first IP address (198.185.159.144).

Important Tips:

  • Allow up to 72 hours for DNS changes to take effect
  • "Record not found" messages are normal during propagation
  • If issues persist after 72 hours, check your DNS settings against these values
  • Contact your domain provider for help accessing DNS settings
  • Consider transferring your domain to Squarespace if eligible

Remember to verify all records are entered exactly as shown, including periods and correct capitalization. The DNS Settings panel will indicate any misconfigurations once propagation is complete.
