The .it domain extension represents Italy's country code top-level domain (ccTLD) and comes with specific requirements for registration and management.

Registration Requirements:

  • Must have an address in: European Economic Area, San Marino, Switzerland, United Kingdom, or Vatican City
  • Must select your entity type from the following categories:
    • Italian citizen
    • European resident (non-Italian)
    • Italian company/sole proprietorship
    • Italian freelancer
    • Italian non-profit
    • Italian public entity
    • European company (non-Italian)
    • Other Italian subjects

Domain Management Features:

  • No 5-day grace period or cancellation refunds
  • Nameservers cannot be modified (use custom DNS records instead)
  • Domain transfers include one year of registration
  • Transfer renewal date becomes the completion date

Expiration Policy:

  • Tucows registrar: 10-day grace period + 30-day redemption period
  • Key-Systems registrar: No grace period, immediate removal from dashboard

Whois Privacy: Available only for:

  • Italian citizens
