Site visibility controls your website's accessibility. You can make it public, private, password-protected, or SSO-protected (Enterprise only).

To change site availability:

  1. Open Site Availability panel
  2. Select visibility option
  3. Click Save

Public Sites

  • Visible to all visitors and search engines
  • Allows online store transactions
  • Can be indexed by search engines
  • Suitable for live, paid websites

Password Protected Sites

  • Requires password for access
  • Ideal for test sites or limited-access content
  • Visitors see password prompt before entering

Private Sites

  • Only accessible to owners and collaborators
  • Shows login page to other visitors
  • Default setting for test sites
  • Completely hidden from search engines

SSO Protection (Enterprise)

  • Requires authentication through apps like Okta, Azure, ClassLink, or Google
  • Exclusive to Enterprise plans
  • Manages company-wide access

Additional Options

  • Set Coming Soon page while designing
  • Hide specific pages individually
  • Cancel subscription for paid sites
  • Delete trial sites if unused

Site Promotion You can opt in/out of Squarespace promoting your site on their:

  • Templates Page
  • Social media accounts (Instagram, Twitter, Facebook)
  • Enable/disable in Website panel settings

Control these settings anytime through your site's availability panel to match your visibility needs.
