DNS records contain critical information about your domain, helping connect users to your website and email addresses. They're essential for website security and domain ownership authentication. Here's how to manage DNS records effectively:

When to Update DNS Records:

  • Connect third-party services
  • Forward domains
  • Set up external email services
  • Troubleshoot domain connection issues

Accessing DNS Settings:

  2. Select your domain name
  3. Click DNS Settings

  • ALIAS Records
  • CNAME Records

  • SSHFP Records
  • TLSA Records

  • TXT Records

Customizing TTL (Time To Live):

  • Default: 4 hours
  • Can be customized in seconds

  • Available through dropdown menu with preset values

Deleting DNS Records:

  1. Access Domain Dashboard
  2. Select domain name
  3. Navigate to DNS Settings
  4. Find Custom Records
  5. Hover over record to delete
  6. Click red trash can icon
  7. Save changes

Important Notes:

  • Changes may take 24-72 hours to propagate
  • Each domain's DNS settings are managed separately
  • Only modify DNS records when using Squarespace-managed domains or domains connected via Nameserver Connect
  • For third-party domains using DNS Connect, edit DNS settings through your domain provider

Remember to review your DNS records carefully before making changes, as incorrect modifications can affect your website's accessibility and functionality.
