TXT records store text information in your domain's DNS settings, commonly used for domain verification by third-party services. Here's how to add them to your Squarespace domain or third-party domain connected via Nameserver Connect.

Adding a TXT Record:

  1. Access your domain panel
  2. Click on your domain name
  3. Select DNS, then DNS Settings
  4. Scroll to Custom Records
  5. Click Add Record
  6. Choose TXT from Type dropdown
  7. Enter host name in Host field (use @ for domain root)
  8. Input TXT record value in Data field
  9. Click Save

Important Notes:

  • Manage DNS records separately for multiple Squarespace domains
  • TXT records typically contain a specific combination of letters, numbers, and symbols
  • Common use: domain verification for third-party services
  • Allow time for DNS changes to propagate

If you encounter issues, check your DNS settings are correct and wait for propagation. DNS changes can take up to 24-72 hours to fully update across the internet.

For persistent problems, verify:

  • Host field is correctly formatted
  • TXT record value matches exactly what the service provided
  • No extra spaces or characters were accidentally added
  • DNS settings haven't been altered by other recent changes
