Squarespace Payments simplifies online transactions by centralizing your finances on a user-friendly dashboard. Here's everything you need to know to get started.

Eligibility Requirements:

  • Available in select regions (check availability guide)
  • Requires a Squarespace trial site or ecommerce site with Personal plan or higher
  • Must have admin or owner permissions

Registration Process:

  1. Open the Payments panel
  2. Click "Activate Squarespace Payments"
  3. Fill in required information
  4. Accept and submit

Note: Only site owners or admins can create payments accounts, with one account per website.

Bank Account Connection:

  • Required for receiving transfers
  • New accounts have a 15-19 day hold period before first transfer
  • Transfers occur Sunday through Thursday (excluding holidays)
  • Authentication through Plaid using:
    • Bank login credentials
    • Account and routing numbers
    • Micro-deposits verification

Accepted Payment Methods:

  • Major credit cards (Visa, Mastercard, AMEX, Discover)
  • Digital wallets (Apple Pay, Link by Stripe)
  • Alternative payments (Afterpay/Clearpay, Klarna)
  • ACH (US merchants only)

Important Notes:

  • Tax forms (1099-K) provided for merchants processing over $5,000 annually
  • Physical address required (no PO boxes)
  • Multiple accounts allowed for different websites
  • Compatible with PayPal as additional payment method
  • Not available for point-of-sale transactions or Acuity Scheduling

Verification requires different information for individuals versus businesses, including business details, product information, and your relationship to the business.

For international sellers: You must be based in an eligible location, but you can sell globally and set up multiple currencies.
