Domain billing and settings can be managed in one place by transferring from IONOS to Squarespace. Here's how to complete the transfer:

Before Starting:

Step 1: Access IONOS Account

1. Log in to your IONOS account
2. Navigate to Domains and SSL
3. Select the domain to transfer

Step 2: Verify Contact Information

1. Click "Privacy and Contact Details" tab
2. Check Administrative Contact details
3. Edit if needed under "1&1 IONOS Domain Contact Details"

Step 3: Unlock the Domain

1. Go to "Renewal and Transfer" tab
2. Ensure Domain Transfer Lock is deactivated

Step 4: Get Authorization Code

1. Click "Show Authorization Code" in Modify Provider section
2. Copy and save the code securely

Step 5: Initiate Transfer in Squarespace

1. Open Domains panel
2. Click "Use a domain I own"
3. Enter domain name
4. Click "Transfer Domain"
5. Enter authorization code

Step 6: Confirm Registration Details

1. Verify contact information
2. Update email address if needed
3. Save changes

Step 7: Payment Information

1. Confirm or enter payment method
2. Ensure card is accepted by Squarespace

Step 8: Review and Confirm

1. Check transfer details
2. Verify one-year registration fee
3. Review terms and new expiration date
4. Click "Confirm and Purchase"

Step 9: Accept Transfer

• Approve transfer via IONOS email link

Step 10: Monitor Status

1. Check Domains panel for "Transfer in Progress"
2. Address any error messages promptly

Step 11: Review DNS Settings

1. Check existing records
2. Maintain MX records for email
3. Add/remove records as needed

Step 12: Complete Transfer

• Wait up to 15 days for completion
• Avoid DNS changes during transfer
• Look for confirmation email

Post-Transfer Steps:

1. Cancel IONOS hosting if needed
2. Set as primary domain
3. Configure SSL
4. Set up email (optional)
5. Review domain invoice

If Transfer Fails:

• Check registration information
• Contact IONOS support
• Consider domain linking as alternative

The transfer is complete when you receive confirmation from [email protected] and see a green label in your Domains panel.
