Understanding Ajax Loading: Features and Speed Benefits in Version 7.0
Ajax loading in version 7.0 improves page navigation speed and performance by selectively loading only necessary content. This feature is particularly beneficial for content-heavy pages like blogs and galleries.
How Ajax Loading Works
When enabled, static elements like headers and footers remain loaded while only page-specific content updates during navigation. This significantly reduces loading times and creates a smoother browsing experience.
Supported Templates
Ajax loading is available in these template families:
- Brine
- Farro
- Skye (blog landing page only)
- Tremont
- York
Managing Ajax Settings
Ajax is enabled by default for visitors. To adjust Ajax settings:
- Open Site Styles panel
- Locate "Enable Ajax Loading"
- Select or deselect the option
Important Notes:
- Cannot be disabled in Skye family
- Remains active on Farro family blog landing pages
- Automatically disabled for logged-in collaborators
- May conflict with custom code, anchor links, and URL redirects
- Can affect site analytics tracking
Loading Bar Customization
Templates with loading bar support:
- Brine
- Farro
To customize the loading bar:
- Access Site Styles panel
- Navigate to "Site: Loading"
- Adjust visibility, width, and color settings
Recommended Usage
Keep Ajax loading enabled when possible for optimal site performance, unless you experience specific conflicts with custom functionality or analytics requirements.
Note: Ajax enhances visitor experience but requires testing with any custom implementations to ensure compatibility.
