Embedding blocks let you add external media content like videos, tweets, and social media posts to your Squarespace website. Here's how to use them effectively:

Adding Videos

  1. Get the embed code:
  • Find the "Share" or "Embed" button near the video
  • Copy the provided embed code
  1. Add to your website:
  • Edit your page/post
  • Click an insert point and select "Embed"
  • Click the pencil icon to open block editor
  • Select "Code Snippet" and paste the embed code
  • Optionally add a description or custom thumbnail

Adding Video Playlists

For YouTube playlists:

  • Go to your YouTube Playlists
  • View the full playlist you want to embed
  • Click Share > Embed
  • Copy the code and paste it into the embedding block

Adding Other Content

  1. For oEmbed-compatible content:
  • Edit your page
  • Add an Embed block
  • Enter the content URL directly
  1. For manual embeds:
  • Open the block editor
  • Click "Code Snippet"
  • Paste the embed code

Troubleshooting Tips

If content isn't displaying:

  • Verify you're using a valid URL or embed code
  • Test while logged out or in an incognito window
  • Contact the content provider if the code isn't working

Best Practices:

  • Use video blocks for standard YouTube/Vimeo content
  • Use embedding blocks for advanced video settings
  • Enable autoplay by editing the embed code
  • Ensure content is from oEmbed-compatible services

Note: Custom thumbnails will disable autoplay features.
