Adding Content with Embedding Blocks: A Guide to External Media
Embedding blocks let you add external media content like videos, tweets, and social media posts to your Squarespace website. Here's how to use them effectively:
Adding Videos
- Get the embed code:
- Find the "Share" or "Embed" button near the video
- Copy the provided embed code
- Add to your website:
- Edit your page/post
- Click an insert point and select "Embed"
- Click the pencil icon to open block editor
- Select "Code Snippet" and paste the embed code
- Optionally add a description or custom thumbnail
Adding Video Playlists
For YouTube playlists:
- Go to your YouTube Playlists
- View the full playlist you want to embed
- Click Share > Embed
- Copy the code and paste it into the embedding block
Adding Other Content
- For oEmbed-compatible content:
- Edit your page
- Add an Embed block
- Enter the content URL directly
- For manual embeds:
- Open the block editor
- Click "Code Snippet"
- Paste the embed code
Troubleshooting Tips
If content isn't displaying:
- Verify you're using a valid URL or embed code
- Test while logged out or in an incognito window
