Australian domains (.au and .com.au) require specific eligibility criteria for registration. Here's what you need to know:
Eligibility Requirements:
- Must have an Australian address
- Business domains (.com.au) require valid ABN or ACN
- Personal domains (.au) available for Australian residents
Registration Details:
- Entity name must match ABN/ACN documents
- Entity types include: Company, Partnership, Sole Trader, Trademark Holder
- Additional options for .au: Charity, Citizen/Resident, Club, Non-profit, Individual
Important Information:
- No 5-day grace period or refunds after registration
- 30-day grace period after expiration
- Cannot transfer .au/.com.au domains to Squarespace
- No 60-day lock period when transferring away from Squarespace
- WHOIS privacy not available
Domain Management:
- Verification through Additional Requirements panel
- Must provide:
- Entity name and type
- ABN or ACN number
- Eligibility reason
- Trademark information (if applicable)
Updating Registration:
- Changes can be made through owner forms
- Ownership changes require:
- New registration fee
- Reset of registration period
