DNS records are instructions that servers use to direct visitors to your domain and handle custom email addresses. Here's how to manage DNS settings for your Squarespace domain:

Accessing DNS Settings:

  1. Go to your Domains dashboard
  2. Click the domain name
  3. Select DNS in the sidebar

Adding Predefined DNS Settings:

  • Click "Add a predefined setting" for common configurations:
    • Google Workspace: For email setup outside Squarespace
    • Zoho Mail: Adds required fields (requires additional CNAME verification)
    • Google Workspace Verification: Resends verification for parked domains
    • Squarespace Default Settings: Restores original DNS records

Restoring Squarespace Defaults:

  1. Open Domains dashboard
  2. Select your domain
  3. Click DNS in sidebar
  4. Choose "Add a predefined setting"
  5. Select "Squarespace Defaults"

Removing Default Settings:

  1. Access DNS settings
  2. Locate DNS Settings section
  3. Click the trash icon next to Squarespace Defaults
  4. Confirm deletion

Troubleshooting DNS Conflicts:

  • "DNS Record Conflict" error means existing records conflict with new settings
  • Check for duplicate records or conflicting data
  • Refresh page and retry if no conflicts found

Custom DNS Records:

  • Scroll to Custom Records section
  • Follow specific provider instructions for manual record addition

Common DNS-Free Tasks:

  • Connecting third-party domains
  • Managing Whois protection
  • Changing nameservers
  • Setting primary domains
  • Domain transfers

Note: Always verify DNS changes with your service provider and allow time for propagation.
