DNS records, also known as resource records, contain critical information that helps connect users to your website or email address. They're essential for domain management, security, and authentication.

When to Update DNS Records

You can update DNS records in Squarespace if you:

  • Have a Squarespace-managed domain
  • Connected a third-party domain through Nameserver Connect

Note: For domains connected via DNS Connect, modify settings through your third-party provider.

Common Reasons for DNS Changes:

  • Domain forwarding
  • Third-party email setup
  • Domain connection fixes
  • Service integration (like Google verification or Salesforce)

Accessing DNS Settings

  1. Open domains dashboard
  2. Select domain name
  3. Click DNS Settings

Available DNS Record Types:

  • A Records
  • AAAA Records
  • ALIAS Records
  • CNAME Records
  • DKIM and SPF
  • DMARC
  • MX Records
  • SRV Records
  • CAA Records
  • DS and DNSKEY
  • HTTPS Records

How to Delete DNS Records

  1. Navigate to domains dashboard
  2. Select domain name
  3. Go to DNS Settings
  4. Scroll to Custom Records
  5. Hover over record and click trash can icon
  6. Click Save
