When to Edit DNS Records
You can edit DNS records on Squarespace if you:
- Have a Squarespace-managed domain
- Connected a third-party domain via Nameserver Connect
Common reasons for editing DNS records include:
- Redirecting your domain
- Setting up third-party email
- Fixing domain connection issues
Accessing DNS Settings
- Open your domains panel
- Click the domain name
- Select DNS Settings

- A Records
- AAAA Records
- ALIAS Records
- CNAME Records
- DKIM and SPF Records
- DMARC Records
- MX Records
- SRV Records
- CAA Records
- DS and DNSKEY Records
- HTTPS Records
- PPM Records

Customizing TTL Values
Time To Live (TTL) controls how long records are cached:
- Default: 4 hours
- Can be customized in seconds
- Maximum value: 2147483648 seconds
Deleting DNS Records
- Open domains panel
- Click domain name
- Navigate to DNS Settings
- Scroll to Custom Records
- Hover over record and click trash icon
- Click Save
Note: DNS changes typically take 24-72 hours to propagate fully across the internet.
Important: If using DNS Connect, edit DNS settings through your external domain provider instead.
