Nameserver registration, also known as glue records, allows you to host your domain on your own servers by connecting your domain's IP address directly to your TLD registry. This is particularly useful when you want to manage your own hosting infrastructure instead of using default nameservers.

Prerequisites:

  • Own server infrastructure
  • Server administration knowledge
  • Server hostname and IP address information

Adding Glue Records:

  1. Gather your server's hostname and IP address
  2. Access your domain dashboard
  3. Navigate to DNS settings, then nameserver registration
  4. Click "Add Host Record"
  5. Enter hostname and IP address in respective fields
  6. Save changes (allow 24-72 hours for propagation)

Removing Glue Records:

  1. Ensure nameservers point to alternative destination first
  2. Access domain dashboard
  3. Navigate to DNS > Domain Nameservers
  4. Select Nameserver Registration
  5. Delete host record using trash can icon
  6. Save changes (allow 24-72 hours for propagation)

Important Notes:

  • Cannot delete glue records while in use
  • Removal may cause 24-72 hour service interruption
  • Always verify alternate nameserver configuration before removal
  • Contact server provider if unsure about hostname/IP details

This setup is ideal for users who need complete control over their domain's DNS infrastructure and have the technical expertise to manage it effectively.

Remember to configure custom nameservers after adding glue records to complete the setup process.
