When You Can Cancel a Transfer

You can cancel a domain transfer while it shows a "Pending transfer" status in your Domains panel. This is only possible if your domain provider hasn't yet approved the transfer request.

How to Cancel a Domain Transfer:

1. Navigate to the Domains panel
2. Select the domain with pending transfer
3. Click the "..." menu option
4. Choose "Cancel transfer"
5. Confirm your cancellation

Important: If the domain status shows "In progress," contact your current provider to reject the transfer. Note that this may not be possible if they've already released the domain.

Unable to Cancel?

If your domain provider has already released the domain to Squarespace, the transfer cannot be canceled as it's actively moving between hosts. In this case:

• Wait for the transfer to complete
• Prepare to transfer the domain again if needed
• Remember that most domains require a 60-day waiting period before transferring to another host

Best Practices:

• Contact your domain provider to confirm if they've approved the transfer
• Cancel through both the Domains panel and your provider
• Let your provider handle any necessary steps to maintain domain hosting

Note: If you're transferring a domain from Squarespace to another provider, you'll need to follow a different process specific to outbound transfers.
