
How to Connect a Third-Party Subdomain to Your Squarespace Site
To connect a third-party subdomain to Squarespace:
Before You Begin:
- Ensure you have a registered domain with Full DNS services
- Set up your subdomain with your provider first
- Note: You don't need to connect the main domain before connecting a subdomain
Step-by-Step Connection Process:
- Start in Squarespace
- Go to Domains panel
- Click "Use a Domain I Own"
- Enter subdomain name
- Click "Connect From Provider"
- Select "Other" from dropdown
- Click "Connect Domain"
- Keep DNS Settings panel open for reference
- Access DNS Settings
- Log into your domain provider account
- Find DNS management section (may be called Zone File Settings, Manage Domains, or DNS Manager)
- Add First CNAME Record
- Host: Copy unique verification code from Squarespace
- Type: CNAME
- Points to: verify.squarespace.com
- Add Second CNAME Record
- Host: Your subdomain (e.g., "blog")
- Type: CNAME
- Points to: ext-cust.squarespace.com
- Complete Setup
- Return to Squarespace DNS Settings
- Click "Refresh records"
- Wait up to 72 hours for changes to process
- If using as primary domain, disable "Use WWW Prefix" in Domains panel

If CNAME Records Aren't Supported:
- Use TXT records instead
- Follow same format for both records
- Delete any conflicting A records
If Verification Fails:
- Use DNS checker tool in Domains panel
- Remove any conflicting A records
- Wait up to 72 hours for changes to take effect
- Contact domain provider if issues persist
