When connecting a Strato domain to Squarespace, follow these steps for proper DNS configuration.

Step 1: Begin Connection in Squarespace

1. Navigate to Domains menu
2. Click "Use external domain"
3. Enter your domain name
4. Click "Connect domain"
5. Select "Other" from dropdown
6. Click "Connect domain" again
7. Keep the DNS Settings menu open for reference

Step 2: Access Strato Settings

1. Log in to www.strato.de
2. Find your domain and click "Manage domain"
3. Navigate to DNS > Domain management

Step 3: Configure First CNAME Record

• Type: CNAME
• Prefix: [Copy unique code from Squarespace]
• Value: verify.squarespace.com
• SPF Rule: Select "No SPF rule"
• Save changes

Step 4: Add Second CNAME Record

• Type: CNAME
• Prefix: www
• Value: ext-cust.squarespace.com
• SPF Rule: Select "No SPF rule"
• Save changes

Step 5: Configure A Record Add the following A record:

• IP Address: 198.185.159.144

Important A Record Notes:

• Delete existing @ records that don't match guide values
• Remove blank host records
• Preserve Mail/Email records to maintain email service

Step 6: Wait for Connection

• Allow 24-72 hours for full propagation
• Monitor progress in Squarespace DNS settings
• Green labels indicate successful connection
• Domain shows as "Connected" when complete

• Contact Strato support for account-specific issues
• Normal to see errors during 72-hour propagation period
