The content sidebar in Version 7.0 templates allows you to customize and organize additional content on your website through an editable area that displays text, images, and other elements.

Sidebar Basics

The sidebar typically appears on collection pages like blogs or throughout the entire site, depending on your template. On mobile devices, it usually displays at the bottom of the page, except in the Ishimoto template where it's hidden.

Adding Content to Your Sidebar

  1. Locate a page with a sidebar
  2. Hover over the sidebar and click [Edit]
  3. Click the insertion point to add blocks

Popular Sidebar Blocks:

  • Archive Block: Creates organized content lists
  • Text Block: Adds custom text
  • Newsletter Block: Embeds signup forms
  • Tag Cloud Block: Displays visual tag representations
  • Divider Block: Separates content sections

Customizing Sidebar Layout

Blocks can only stack vertically to maintain sidebar width. Rearrange blocks by clicking and dragging them to your desired position.

Template-Specific Settings

Different templates offer various sidebar customization options:

Bedford:

  • Adjustable sidebar position (left/right)
  • Multiple layout options (one sidebar, split, full width, two sidebars)
  • Hide/show functionality

Montauk:

  • Center layout (no sidebar)
  • Right or left sidebar options

Skye:

  • Adjustable sidebar width
  • Optional author profile display
  • Position control (hidden, left, right)

Navigation Sidebar

Templates supporting sidebar navigation:

  • Aviator: Site-wide sidebar with offset/business card layouts
  • Bedford: Appears on dropdown and index pages
  • Five: Optional top-to-sidebar navigation conversion
  • Supply: Site-wide navigation sidebar
  • Wells: Navigation sidebar with editable content area

To customize navigation sidebar:

  1. Manage links in the [Pages] panel
  2. Adjust logo and title settings as needed
  3. Configure product category navigation (Version 7.1)

Note: Sidebar content doesn't transfer between templates, so save your content before switching templates.
