Move your HostGator domain to Squarespace in 10 simple steps to manage everything in one place.

Before starting, ensure you meet all domain transfer requirements and check your domain's eligibility. The transfer process typically takes up to 15 days.

Step 1: Access HostGator Account

• Go to HostGator and log in
• Click "Domains" in the sidebar

Step 2: Verify Domain Contact Information

• Click "More" next to your domain
• Select "Contact Info"
• Review and update Administrative contact details
• Save changes

Step 3: Unlock Domain and Get EPP Code

• Click "Domain Overview"
• Click "Change" next to Locking
• Turn Locking OFF
• Request and save your EPP Key

Step 4: Start Transfer in Squarespace

• Open Domains panel in Squarespace
• Click "Use a domain I own"
• Enter your domain name
• Click "Transfer domain"
• Enter EPP code

Step 5: Confirm Registration Details

• Review contact information
• Verify email address is correct
• Update WHOIS records if needed

Step 6: Review Payment Information

• Confirm payment method
• Enter new card details if needed

Step 7: Complete Purchase

• Review transfer details
• Check domain renewal price
• Confirm terms and expiration date
• Click "Confirm and Purchase"

Step 8: Monitor Transfer Status

• Check "Transfer pending" message
• Fix any error messages:
  • Unlock domain if locked
  • Verify EPP code if rejected

Step 9: Review DNS Settings (Optional)

• Check existing DNS records
• Keep MX records if using custom email
• Add or remove records as needed

Step 10: Wait for Completion

• Allow up to 15 days for transfer
• Watch for confirmation email
• Don't change DNS settings during transfer
• Look for green label in Domains panel

After Transfer Completion:

• Cancel HostGator account (optional)
• Set as primary domain
• Enable SSL
• Add custom email if needed
• Update DNS settings

If transfer fails:

• Check registration information

• Consider domain connection instead of transfer
