Using Custom Domain Email with Squarespace

You can use email addresses with your custom domain (like [email protected]) through your existing email provider or by migrating to Google Workspace. Both options work with third-party and Squarespace domains.

Keeping Your Current Email Provider

Continue using your existing email service without disrupting your website:

  • For third-party domains: Connect to Squarespace by updating only CNAME and A records
  • For Squarespace domains: Add required DNS records from your email provider
  • No changes needed to nameservers or MX records

Migrating to Google Workspace

Benefits:

  • Manage email through custom Gmail account
  • Keep your existing email address
  • Access Google Calendar and Drive
  • Consolidated billing through Squarespace
  • Works with both third-party and Squarespace domains

Migration Steps:

  1. Create Google Workspace Account
  • Sign up through Squarespace
  • Use your existing custom domain
  • Add email addresses for all users
  • Allow up to 72 hours for MX record changes
  1. Import Existing Content
  • Export emails from current provider
  • Transfer contacts and calendars
  • Use Google's data migration service
  1. Cancel Previous Service Before canceling, ensure:
  • Setup is complete
  • Emails are arriving in Google Workspace
  • All content is transferred
  • MX records are properly configured

Important Notes:

  • Don't cancel current service until migration is complete
  • Keep administrator access to both accounts during transition
  • Complete any domain transfers before setup
  • Maintain existing MX records until fully migrated

This setup preserves your professional email address while providing additional Google Workspace features and seamless integration with Squarespace.
