Adding custom nameservers to DNS records is an advanced domain management technique that allows you to point subdomains to different servers. Here's how to manage additional nameservers effectively.

Prerequisites

• Domain must be registered with Squarespace or connected via Nameserver Connect
• DNSSEC protection must be disabled before making changes

Disable DNSSEC Protection:

1. Navigate to domains dashboard
2. Select your domain
3. Click DNS > DNSSEC
4. Turn off DNS Security Extensions toggle
5. Click Confirm in the confirmation window

Add Custom Nameservers:

1. Gather NS records from your provider
2. Go to domains dashboard
3. Select your domain
4. Click DNS > DNS Settings
5. Scroll to Custom Records
6. Click Add record
7. Select NS as Type
8. Enter host value (subdomain)
9. Input NS record data
10. Save changes (allow 24-48 hours for propagation)

Remove Custom Nameservers:

1. Disable DNSSEC
2. Reset nameservers:
   • Go to DNS > Domain Nameservers
   • Click Use Squarespace nameservers
   • Save changes
3. Re-enable DNSSEC if desired

• "Couldn't add nameserver" error: Usually appears during domain transfers
