Domain Name Server Registration (Glue Records) allows you to host your domain on your own servers instead of using default name servers. This guide explains how to set up and manage glue records effectively.

Prerequisites:

  • Own server infrastructure
  • Server administration knowledge
  • Desire to host domain on a non-provider server

Adding Glue Records:

  1. Gather your server's host name and IP address
  2. Access your Domains dashboard
  3. Select the target domain
  4. Navigate to DNS > Name Server Record
  5. Click "Add Host Record"
  6. Enter the host name and IP address
  7. Click "Add IP Address"
  8. Save changes

Note: Changes may take 24-72 hours to propagate across the internet.

Removing Glue Records:

  1. Ensure name servers point to alternative destination
  2. Access Domains dashboard
  3. Select target domain
  4. Navigate to DNS > Domain Name Servers
  5. Click Name Server Record
  6. Delete host record using trash can icon
  7. Save changes

Important Considerations:

  • Cannot remove glue records currently in use
  • Deletion may cause 24-72 hour website downtime
  • Always verify alternate name server configuration before removal
  • Keep server provider contact information accessible
  • Maintain accurate IP address and host name records

After setting up glue records, configure custom name servers for your domain to complete the setup process. This ensures proper domain resolution and maintains website accessibility.
