
How to Connect a Squarespace Domain to a Site: Step by Step Guide
Linking your Squarespace domain to a site while maintaining separate billing is straightforward. Here's everything you need to know:
Requirements:
- Domain must be parked (not attached to another website)
- Domain and website must be on the same Squarespace account
- Administrator permissions needed for both domain and website
To Connect Your Domain:
- Navigate to domains dashboard
- Select your domain
- Click "Website"
- Choose "Connect existing website"
- Select the destination site
- Click "Next" and "Confirm"
To Change Connection:
- Open domains dashboard
- Click your domain
- Select "Website"
- Choose "Change connection"
- Pick new destination site
- Confirm changes
To Remove Connection:
- Access domains dashboard
- Select domain
- Click "Website"
- Choose "Change connection"
- Select "Park this domain"
- Confirm removal
Important Notes:
- You can't connect a domain to specific pages (but can forward to them)
- For subdomains, use DNS records to connect
- To reconnect after third-party service use, remove existing records and add Squarespace defaults
