When your form or newsletter sign-up isn't working properly, follow this step-by-step guide to identify and fix the issue.

Common Issues and Solutions

Step 1: Form Submission Issues

Error messages visitors might see:

• Invalid email address: Ensure email format is [email protected]
• Error communicating with storage services: Unlink and relink storage options
• Unknown error: Usually occurs when multiple submissions are made too quickly (anti-spam measure)

Step 2: Storage Integration Problems

Squarespace Email List:

• Check if subscribers have confirmed their subscription
• Verify form configuration is correct

Mailchimp:

• Ensure account connection is active
• Verify list settings

Google Drive:

• Avoid special characters in form field titles (å, ä, ö)
• Ensure column headers match form field titles exactly
• Characters from non-Latin alphabets (Chinese, Korean, Japanese, etc.) may be omitted

Step 3: Email Notification Issues

Not receiving form submissions:

• Check spam/junk folders
• Add [email protected] to safe senders
• Create email rules/filters if needed

Storage Error Fixes

Google Drive Connection Issues:

1. Open form storage
2. Unlink current spreadsheet
3. Relink with new or existing spreadsheet
4. If problems persist, create new spreadsheet

Authorization Problems:

2. Reset Google account permissions
3. Relink form to Google Drive

• Forms must have at least one storage option
• Mobile app limitations: Storage options can only be edited on desktop for version 7.0 sites
