Nameserver registration, also known as glue records, allows you to host your domain on your own servers by linking your nameserver's IP address to your TLD registry. This setup is ideal if you manage your own servers or want to host your domain outside your domain provider's infrastructure.

Prerequisites:

  • Own server infrastructure
  • Server administration knowledge
  • Server's hostname and IP address
  • Desire to self-host domain

Adding Glue Records:

  1. Gather your server's hostname and IP address
  2. Navigate to domains dashboard
  3. Select your domain
  4. Go to DNS > Nameserver Registration
  5. Click "Add Host Record"
  6. Enter hostname and IP address
  7. Click "Save"

Note: Changes may take 24-72 hours to propagate.

Removing Glue Records:

  1. Ensure nameservers point to alternative destination
  2. Access domains dashboard
  3. Select domain
  4. Navigate to DNS > Domain Nameserver
  5. Click "Nameserver Registration"
  6. Delete host record using trash can icon
  7. Save changes

Important: Removing glue records while in use can cause 72-hour service disruption. Always redirect nameservers before deletion.

Best Practices:

  • Keep server information readily available
  • Plan changes during low-traffic periods
  • Allow sufficient time for DNS propagation
  • Maintain backup DNS configuration
  • Document all changes for future reference

After completing glue record setup, configure custom nameservers for your domain to complete the process.
