Email subscriber verification helps reduce spam flags and ensures your campaigns reach genuine subscribers. Here's everything you need to know about verification options in Squarespace:
Verification Methods
- Google reCAPTCHA
- Invisible security feature preventing bot submissions
- Automatically enabled for form blocks
- Available for newsletter blocks and promotional pop-ups
- No action required from visitors
- Confirmation Emails
- Requires subscribers to verify their subscription
- Sent for form blocks, newsletter blocks, and promotional pop-ups
- Also used for Acuity Scheduling opt-ins and member website registrations
- Not available on trial websites
Setting Up Verification
At least one verification method must be enabled for:
- Newsletter blocks
- Promotional pop-ups
- Form blocks with email signup
Verification is not available for:
- Checkout newsletter sign-ups
- Manually added addresses
- Imported addresses
Customizing Confirmation Emails
To customize:
- Go to Email Marketing Settings > Verification Options
- Click "Customize Email"
- Edit text, layout, and design
- Modify subject line and preview text
- Test the email before saving
Limitations:
- Cannot add blog or product sections
- Cannot remove Confirm Subscription button
- Cannot customize confirmation page
- Sender information uses verified custom domain
Troubleshooting
