Installation and use of Swiftype for search in Squarespace
Using Swiftype search requires your site to be public and allows one search field per page. Here's how to set it up:
Create a Swiftype Search Engine:
- Log into Swiftype and click "Create New Engine"
- Enter your website URL and click "Verify URL"
- Wait for Swiftype to crawl your site
- Name your search engine and click "Create Engine"
- Click "Complete Setup" then "Install Search"
- Customize your search field
- Click "Enable Site Search"
- Copy both the installation code and search field code
Add Code to Squarespace:
Step 1 - Add Installation Code:
- Go to Code Injection
- Paste installation code into Header field
- Save changes
Step 2 - Add Search Field:
- Add a Code Block where you want the search to appear
- Paste the search field code into the block
Important Notes:
- Only one search field works per page
- This is a third-party integration not supported by Squarespace support
- May require adjustments for mobile responsiveness
- Could be affected by future platform updates
