Malware Report: How to Secure Your Domain Checkout Process
Direct shoppers to your domain's secure checkout page for a seamless shopping experience. When enabled, customers will see your domain in the URL (like https://yourdomain.com/checkout) instead of the default secure.squarespace.com checkout page.
Automatic Enablement Conditions:
- Having a custom domain or subdomain
- SSL enabled and set to [Secure]
For sites without custom domains, checkout URLs will show as https://youraccountid.squarespace.com/checkout.
Verifying Checkout Status:
- Access checkout settings
- Open [Checkout] panel
- Confirm [Checkout on Domain] is checked
- Verify custom domain appears (e.g., https://yourdomain.com/checkout)
Troubleshooting Tips:
If Custom Domain Isn't Showing:
- Test in an incognito window for accurate preview
- Check checkout settings panel
- Verify [Checkout URL] shows your custom domain
- Review requirements under [Checkout Using My Domain]
SSL Security Setup:
- Open [Developer Tools]
- Select [SSL]
- Choose [Secure (Recommended)] under Security Settings
Common Issues:
- 404 errors after checkout usually occur when site is set to [Private]
- Fix by changing site visibility to [Public]
- Orders still process successfully despite 404 errors
Note: For embedded domains, checkout will use youraccountid.squarespace.com format until a custom domain is configured.
