Using Meta Platforms to Sell Your Products

Connect your Squarespace products with Facebook and Instagram to sell directly through posts, stories, and shops. Product updates sync automatically every hour, helping you reach customers where they spend time online.

Important Meta Policy Update (April 2024)

U.S. merchants must now enable Checkout on Facebook and Instagram. This means:

  • Products sync one-way from Squarespace to Meta
  • Sales on Meta platforms won't sync with Squarespace
  • Separate inventory management required
  • Meta platform orders won't appear in Squarespace analytics
  • Use Meta's Commerce Manager for Facebook/Instagram sales

Requirements Before Syncing

Your Squarespace site needs:

  • Physical products with images (500px × 500px minimum), names, and descriptions
  • Site title
  • Products compliant with Meta's business policies
  • No site-wide password
  • Business Instagram account (if selling on Instagram)

Required Meta Accounts:

  • Business Manager account
  • Facebook Page
  • Meta Pixel
  • Ad account

Syncing Your Products

  1. Go to Products panel
  2. Click "Connect with Facebook"
  3. Choose features:
    • Facebook Ads
    • Shops on Facebook
    • Instagram Shopping
  4. Follow Facebook's account connection process

What Syncs Between Platforms:

  • Product ID
  • Title
  • Description
  • Main image
  • Lowest price
  • Stock availability

Managing Your Meta Shop

After approval (24-48 hours):

  1. Ensure Checkout on Facebook/Instagram is enabled
  2. Design your shop layout
  3. Monitor performance through Meta Business Manager

Creating Facebook Ads

Use dynamic ads to:

  • Target interested customers automatically
  • Show personalized product recommendations
  • Retarget potential customers
  • Track performance via Meta Ads Manager

Instagram Product Tagging

Once approved:

  • Tag products in stories and posts
  • New products available for tagging after hourly sync
  • Monitor success through Traffic Source Analytics

Disconnecting Products

To stop syncing:

  1. Open Products and Services panel
  2. Click Facebook and Instagram
  3. Select Disconnect twice

Note: This removes products from Meta Business Manager and breaks existing product tags.
