Sales Funnel Analytics: Understanding Customer Conversion Pathways
Sales funnels help track your customers' journey from site visit to purchase completion. Learn how to analyze each stage effectively using Squarespace's Sales Funnel panel.
The four key stages of the sales funnel are:
- Visits: Total number of browsing sessions on your site
- Product Viewed: Number of visits where customers viewed at least one product
- Added to Cart/Purchase Initiated: Number of visits with cart additions or purchase initiations
- Purchased: Number of visits resulting in completed purchases
To access and analyze your sales funnel:
- Open Analytics panel
- Click Sales, then Purchase Funnel
- Use date range filters (data available from August 2016)
- Filter by specific products or member sites
Key metrics to monitor:
- Conversion rates between funnel stages
- Customer drop-off points
- Impact of store changes on conversion
- Daily performance trends via line graph
Important monitoring considerations:
- Track changes in conversion rates after implementing new marketing strategies
- Monitor effects of discounts and promotions
- Analyze impact of design modifications
- Review customer behavior patterns
Note: Some discrepancies may occur due to:
- Late-night browsing sessions crossing midnight
- Different view counting methods for products
- Variations between Sales Funnel and Abandoned Cart metrics
The line graph at the bottom shows performance trends over time, with different colors representing each funnel stage. Use this to identify patterns and measure the effectiveness of your marketing efforts.
For member sites:
- Quick Checkout enabled: Shows "Purchase Initiated" data
- Quick Checkout disabled: Shows "Added to Cart" data
- Member-only sites may show limited data in certain columns
Remember to regularly review your funnel analytics to optimize your store's performance and improve conversion rates at each stage.
