Search keywords analytics help you understand which search terms drive traffic to your site. This data is crucial for optimizing your content and improving search visibility.

Google Search Keywords Panel

Access your search keywords data through Analytics > Traffic > Search Keywords. Choose between Google or Other search engines data, and select your preferred date range (available from January 2014).

The Google tab shows:

  • Total clicks from search results
  • Total impressions in search results
  • Average click-through rate
  • Average position in search results

Key Features:

  • Domain keywords graph showing top 4 keywords trends
  • Keywords table displaying up to 200 keywords
  • Option to view results by pages or entire domain
  • Data from Google Search Console (verification required)

Other Search Engines Tab

Shows traffic data from engines like Bing and DuckDuckGo:

  • Keyword breakdown with usage count
  • Multi-engine keyword tracking
  • "Not provided" data for secure searches
  • Excludes searches over 80 characters

Using Search Keywords Data

To optimize your site:

  1. Identify high-impression, low-click keywords for improvement
  2. Align product descriptions with successful search terms
  3. Add relevant keywords to popular content
  4. Consider verifying with additional search engines

Important Notes:

  • Google data appears 72 hours after verification
  • Some specific keywords may not show due to privacy
  • Data syncs between platforms may have slight delays
  • Regular monitoring helps track keyword performance trends

For best results, combine keyword insights with SEO best practices and maintain regular content updates aligned with your most successful search terms.
