Managing and reusing digital assets efficiently is crucial for your website. Here's how to make the most of your images and videos in Squarespace:

Asset Library Basics

• All uploaded images and videos are stored in the asset library
• Access previously used content via [Choose from Library] or [Search for Images]
• View assets through the [My Library] tab, including uploaded and stock images

Reusable Image Locations

• Banner images
• Featured images for blogs, events, and pages
• Email campaigns
• Image blocks and galleries
• Product images
• Site logo (v7.1)
• Background images

Non-Reusable Images

• Portfolio page images
• Product featured images
• Site logo (v7.0)

Video Reuse Videos can be reused in:

• Video blocks
• Section backgrounds
• Course pages
• Video pages

Managing Assets

Adding Content:

1. Open [Assets] panel
2. Drag and drop files or click [Add New]
3. Upload files from computer
4. Track progress in lower right corner

Organizing Content:

1. Create folders (up to 40 nested levels)
2. Move assets between folders
3. Create up to 300 subfolders per folder
4. Rename assets and folders as needed

Asset Deletion and Recovery

• Deleted assets remain in trash for 30 days
• Restore items from trash within 30-day window
• Empty trash to permanently delete content
• Automatic deletion of unused images after 8-38 days

Important Notes

• Stock images remain with original site
• Edited images save as copies
• File names serve as alternative text
• Cannot download all images simultaneously
• Getty Images licenses are site-specific
• Unsplash images can be freely reused
