Your site's visibility in Squarespace is determined by its subscription status and availability settings. Here's what you need to know:

Trial Sites

  • Private by default
  • Only accessible to owner and collaborators
  • Hidden from search engines
  • Can be password-protected for specific visitors
  • Visitors need direct link or connected third-party domain

Paid Sites

  • Can be public or private based on settings
  • Check status: Settings > Site Availability
  • Site is active when set to "Public"

Online Store Activation

  • Requires linked payment processor
  • Without payment processor, checkout shows "disabled" message
  • Store becomes fully functional once payment processor is connected

Publishing Changes Changes requiring manual save to be visible:

  • Layout Page modifications
  • Blog posts, events, and products edits
  • Page descriptions and settings
  • Style and design updates
  • Content block area changes

Automatically visible changes (after page refresh):

  • Gallery section images
  • Gallery page media
  • Album page tracks
  • Navigation menu updates

Privacy Management

  • Can maintain privacy after upgrading to paid plan
  • Option to set site-wide password
  • Can control search engine visibility
  • Use Google Search Console to remove indexed content

To check if your site is active:

  1. Open Home Menu
  2. Click Settings
  3. Select Site Availability
  4. Look for "Public" status

Remember: You can maintain privacy until ready to launch, even with a paid subscription.
