Squarespace acquired Google Domains on September 7, 2023, and has completed migrating all domain registrations to their platform. Here's what you need to know:

Managing Your Domain

If you have an existing Squarespace account:

  • Log in at squarespace.com/login with your usual credentials
  • Your domains will appear in your domains panel

If you're new to Squarespace:

  • Go to squarespace.com/login
  • Click "Continue with Google"
  • Select your Google Domains account email
  • If you can't log in, request a verification email and create a password

Domain Management Features

Access these settings in your domains panel:

  • Billing information
  • Contact details
  • DNS records
  • Name servers and DNSSEC
  • Whois privacy

Billing Information

Key points about domain billing:

  • Annual automatic renewal continues
  • Existing registration period remains intact
  • Renewal notifications sent 15 days before due date
  • Squarespace pricing applies from September 7, 2024
  • Tax exemptions must be re-applied with Squarespace

Important Changes

Domain Connections:

  • May need to add new verification records
  • DNS settings can be managed in domains panel
  • No 60-day domain lock applies
  • Existing Google services continue functioning

Email and URL Forwarding:

  • Continues working with Google's default name servers
  • Requires DNS updates if using custom name servers
  • Migration instructions provided via email

Technical Limitations:

  • Dynamic DNS not supported
  • ACME TLS/SSL certificates not supported
  • Not compatible with Squarespace 5 sites
