To add video to your Squarespace site, choose between three main options: direct upload, URL embedding, or embedded code. Here's how to use each method effectively:

Direct Video Upload

  • Upload directly to Squarespace for videos you own
  • Available for video blocks, course pages, and section backgrounds (version 7.1)
  • Free tier includes 30 minutes of video storage
  • Upgrade to Digital Products feature for additional storage
  • Best for: Complete control over your video content

URL Embedding

  • Copy-paste video URLs from YouTube or Vimeo
  • Compatible with:
    • Background videos
    • Course pages
    • Gallery blocks
    • Video blocks
    • Video pages
  • Best for: Simple integration of third-party hosted videos

Adding Embedded Code:

    • Add featured image/description (optional)
    • Save changes
  2. For Gallery Blocks:

    • Click + > Add Video > > icon
    • Paste embed code
    • Click Set
    • Add image, title, caption (optional)
    • Save changes

Best Uses for Embedded Code:

  • Advanced display settings
  • Videos from Animoto, Wistia, and other hosts
  • Custom player appearance
  • Specific playback controls

Choose embedded code when you need more control over video presentation or are using platforms beyond YouTube and Vimeo.
