How to Connect a Squarespace Domain to Your Website: Step-by-Step Guide
Your Squarespace domain can be connected to a Squarespace site while maintaining separate billing and permissions. Here's what you need to know:
Eligibility Requirements:
- Domain must be parked (not currently connected to another site)
- Domain and website must be in the same Squarespace account
- You need admin permissions for both the domain and website
Steps to Connect a Domain:
- Access your domains panel
- Select your domain
- Click "Website"
- Choose "Connect an existing website"
- Select your target site
- Click Next and Confirm
To Change Website Connection:
- Open domains panel
- Click your domain
- Select "Website"
- Click "Change connection"
- Choose new site
- Confirm changes
To Remove Domain Connection:
- Navigate to domains panel
- Select domain
- Click "Website"
- Choose "Change connection"
- Select "Park this domain"
- Confirm removal
Important Notes:
- Cannot connect domains to specific pages (but can redirect)
- Subdomains are treated as third-party domains
- To reconnect after external service use, delete all third-party records first
- For domain sharing same billing/permissions as website, use domain transfer instead
If Access is Limited:
- Need website access? Request collaborator status with admin permissions
- Need domain access? Request domain admin permissions
The domain will maintain its separate billing and permission settings after connection.
