How to Duplicate Your Squarespace Site: A Step-by-Step Guide
If you enabled page collaboration on your site, you can duplicate content in different ways. This guide explains different duplication options and what content carries over to new sites.
Understanding Site Duplication Limits
You cannot duplicate sites that:
- Have over 100 pages
- Use the Developer Platform
- Use retired fonts
- Are parking pages
- Use discontinued Cover Page plans
- Include Acuity Scheduling pages
How to Duplicate a Site
- Open your Account Dashboard
- Click "..." next to the site you want to copy
- Select "Duplicate Website"
The duplicate appears first in your dashboard with "(Copy)" added to the title. Larger sites may take longer to duplicate.
What Gets Copied
The following transfers to the new site:
- Pages, sections, layouts and blocks
- Code injection settings
- Collection items
- Site title and logo
- Language/regional settings
- Style settings
- Template
- Text content
What Doesn't Transfer
These elements require manual setup on the new site:
- Add-on features and subscriptions
- Audio files
- Blog comments
- Demo content
- Uploaded files from link editor
- Licensed stock images
- Unused Asset library content
- Saved sections
- Selling settings
- Third-party integrations
- Website-specific settings
- Member Sites settings
Important Notes
- The duplicate starts as a free trial site
- Changes to the copy don't affect the original
- Basic authors transfer but must be manually reassigned to content
- Collection item URLs get additional characters and need manual updates
- Member Sites get disabled and pages move to "not linked" section
For sites with Member Sites enabled, you'll need to:
- Subscribe to a plan that includes this feature
- Enable Member Sites on the duplicate
- Move pages from "not linked" to the Member Sites section
