A URL slug is the unique address of a page or collection item on your website. Here's how to manage URL slugs effectively:

Finding URL Slugs

You can locate a page's URL slug through:

  • Full preview mode (expand arrow in top corner)
  • Private/incognito browsing
  • Page/item settings menu

URL Formatting Guidelines

  • Must be lowercase (uppercase causes 404 errors)
  • Length: 3-250 characters for pages, 3-200 for blog posts/events
  • Only hyphens (-) allowed as special characters
  • Cannot reuse product URL slugs after deletion
  • Must be unique across live pages

Reserved URL Slugs

Some slugs are reserved for system use, including:

  • account
  • api
  • cart
  • checkout
  • search
  • storage
  • universal

Changing URL Slugs

To modify a page URL:

  1. Open Pages panel
  2. Hover over page and click Settings
  3. Update URL Slug field
  4. Save changes

Important: After changing URLs:

  • Create 301 redirects from old to new URLs
  • Update all internal links
  • Check for broken links

Blog Post URLs

  • Set default format using variables:
    • %t (title)
    • %m (month)
    • %d (date)
    • %y (year)
  • Can be manually edited per post

Structure: /product-url

  • Must use hyphens between words
