Report: How to Set Up Custom Email Addresses in Squarespace
Custom email addresses can be set up to match your domain when using Squarespace. For example, if your domain is www.sampledomain.com, you can create email addresses like [email protected].
Two main options are available for email setup:
- New Email Setup
- Use Google Workspace (formerly G Suite) integration
- Billing managed through Squarespace
- Access to Google's email, calendar, and document services
- Existing Email Address
- Continue using your current custom email address
- Works with both Squarespace and third-party domains
- Maintain existing email hosting when connecting domains
Important Notes:
- Squarespace doesn't host email services
- Email is always hosted externally
- Site hosting, domain hosting, and email hosting are separate services
Hosting Structure:
- Site: Always hosted by Squarespace
- Custom Domain: Either Squarespace or third-party provider
- Email: Always third-party (Google Workspace or other provider)
Sending Emails Successfully:
- Add DKIM records to prevent spam filtering
- For Google Workspace users, follow Google's DKIM and SPF documentation
- Other email providers require their specific DKIM/SPF setup
Remember that connecting a domain to Squarespace won't affect existing email hosting. If using a Squarespace domain with third-party email service, you can maintain this by updating MX records.
For optimal email delivery and avoiding spam filters, ensure proper DKIM and SPF record setup through your email provider.
