When your site isn't displaying, follow these troubleshooting steps in order:

  1. Check System Status
  • Visit status.squarespace.com to see if there are any system-wide issues
  • Subscribe for SMS or email updates if needed
  • If all systems are operational, proceed with further troubleshooting
  1. Test Domain Access
  • Try accessing your site using the built-in .squarespace.com domain
  • If the site loads with built-in domain but not custom domain, you have a domain issue
  1. Resolve Domain Issues

For Third-Party Domains:

  • Verify DNS settings are correct
  • Check domain provider's status page
  • Allow up to 72 hours for recent connections
  • Contact your domain provider if issues persist

For Squarespace Domains:

  • Confirm "Default for Website" DNS record exists
  • Verify domain if recently registered
  • Check if domain has expired
  • Ensure domain verification is completed (required within 15 days)
  1. Check Site Activation
  • Verify site hasn't expired
  • Reactivate if payment is needed
  • Enable automatic renewal to prevent future issues
  1. Wrong Site Displaying?
  • Log into your account
  • Click your profile picture/initials in Home Menu
  • View all sites in your account
  • Locate correct site using search or preview images
  • Verify domain is connected to intended site

If problems persist after following these steps, contact Squarespace support for assistance.

The site should load properly once you've identified and resolved the specific issue causing the downtime.
